Charity Chess Tournament & Fundraiser

We are excited to announce our Chess Tournament & Charity Fundraiser to benefit Hope on the Hill on Sunday, April 28th, from 11-4pm. Join us!

This is an event organized for youth, by youth for Global Youth Service Day, the longest-running annual youth participation event in the world and the only one that asks all youth ages 5-25 to work together for the common good while also recognizing the impact youth make on their communities every day of the year.

We’re meeting at Mac Market upstairs in the Mezzanine, where we have tables and space to accommodate our event and comfortably fit a few dozen simultaneous games. Mac Market has also provided a table downstairs for anyone with accessibility needs.

CHARITY FUNDRAISER

Our charity fundraiser is for Hope on the Hill, a nonprofit food pantry in McMinnville, Oregon, and donations are accepted in person at the event. You can also make your donation online!

Hope on the Hill provides families and individuals with wholesome food, clothing, and personal care items to tide them over during times of emergency, and fights hunger in our community, providing healing to families, and igniting hope within.

TOURNAMENT DETAILS

Members are asked to bring their own chess clocks and boards (BYOB!), keep open containers away from game boards and equipment, and are expected to agree to our Community Code of Conduct for a fun, supportive space for everyone.

• Tournament is unrated and open to all until tickets sell out
• There will be prizes for the winners and a raffle drawing for everyone else! Must be present to win!
• We have two divisions, Scholastic and Adult, with preference given to youth players in our community and beyond
• Sado Music, international exchange student from Kosovo, is our Tournament Director, with help from McMinnville Chess Club members
• More details will be sent to you after registration
• We begin promply at 11am, and there are no refunds or late- or no-shows
• Please note that event registration is on Eventbrite and not at Facebook or Meetup
