People always ask what breed our dog Maggie is. We have no idea, but based on her long body and short legs, and her quirky personality we suspect there's a good dose of Corgi in the mix. We've learned that Corgis are herding dogs, which makes sense because Maggie is super concerned with knowing where everyone is at all times. When some of us are upstairs and the others are downstairs, she lays at the base of the steps so she can keep an eye out on both levels.
This need to know what everyone is doing causes Maggie a lot of frustration when she's outside in our back yard. Our yard shares fence line with at least 4 other houses, and Maggie thinks she's also in charge what’s happening on the other side of the fence. This drives her crazy because she can hear what's going on over there, but she can't do anything about it.
I feel bad for her. I wish there was a way I could teach her that what's happening over there isn't hers to worry about. I want her to understand that she'll have so much more peace if she stops stressing about everyone else and instead thinks about all the good things in her life...and there are A LOT of good things in her life!
And, it turns out that Maggie and I have a lot in common.
