A 2 year old boy named Quincy has been fascinated by the garbage truck “since about the age he could walk,” according to his dad. But this was the first time he met the garbage men in person, and it was all too much for him -- resulting in the adorably priceless photo.
Dad says “He was all smiles as the garbage truck pulled up. I asked him if he wanted to take his picture with them, and he gave an eager yes,”. “But I think his nerves set in when the loud truck was right there in front of us.”
Friday was a long time coming for Quincy. He told his parents that the garbage man always waves to him while he watches them out the window. “We laughed at his imagination, and then we looked out the window and the garbage man was waving!”. “I couldn't tell you how long ago it started.”
The 2-year-old is a big fan of vehicles, but especially trucks, which is why he was rewarded with a toy garbage truck after successful potty training. So, after a week of waiting, he was eager to show the garbage men his new toy. So eager, he burst into tears.
“He calmed down after a few minutes and resumed playing,” dad said. “He hasn't had a whole lot to say about the experience yet.”
The kids you hear singing in the background of that song are from Tanzania and the words they are singing mean:
You are beautiful. You are wonderful. You are glorious. You're my King.
ABOUT PAUL AND DEBBIE
I have been happily married to Debbie my beautiful bride since February of 1984. We have three awesome kids, Jared, a graduate of Corban College with a degree in Biblical Studies. Maegan, a graduate of Western Oregon University with a Bachelors in Psychology. Her husband Andrew, a graduate Oregon State University with a Bachelors in History. Then our youngest, Kayla, is currently attending Corban College pursuing a degree in Psychology. Jared is currently working as an Admissions Councelor at Corban with hopes of becoming a full time Youth Pastor. Maegan and Kayla both are studying to become psychologists. I guess I must be a bit off my rocker given the career choices of all of my children. Our kids are awesome and are all serving God.
In addition to my work here at HOPE 107.9 FM, I am also the Worship Pastor at
North Albany Community Churchwhere I have been serving since 2003. Are services are at 9:30 and 11:00 every Sunday morning if you'd like to visit. God has also blessed me with the opportunity to work in the voiceover industry where I market myself as "Paul Hernandez, The Guy Next Door Voice". It helps me to hone my skills for the ministry here at HOPE 107.9 while enjoying some work on a variety of different voiceover projects. You can visit my voiceover web site and hear samples at www.paulvoices.com.
I became a Christian after Debbie's father had passed away. It was a difficult time for us, but an old buddy of Debbie's father had become a Pastor and invited us to church. We heard the gospel message several times and one Sunday we decided to come forward, ask Jesus into our hearts and got baptised in church the same day. Debbie was pregnant with our daughter Maegan at the time and so we tell her she's been baptised twice.
Paul and I have a great marriage and three wonderful kids and one son-in-law who I'm very proud of.
I have been enjoying working with Paul here at HOPE107.9 for the last few years and I serve with him on our worship team at North Albany Community Church.
I also work part time at Linn Benton Community College as a secretary for the Dental program where I have been since 1999.
I was led to the Lord by a sweet older women who lived in our apartment complex, and gave my heart to Jesus when I was a little girl. I was later baptised with Paul at Crossroads Community Church in Corona, California shortly after my father passed away. His death was hard on me and Paul but I know that God used it to draw us both into a relationship with Him. We were baptised in 1985 and haven't stopped walking with God since.
Spouse & Kids: My beautiful wife Nannette and lovely daughters Kelly and Abigale
Testimony: In Junior high I picked up a gospel tract called "This Was Your Life" which explained in graphic comic picture detail that I was a sinner and that God loved me and wanted to spare me from an eternal fate that was worse than anything I could ever imagine and that he loved me enough to make a place in Heaven for me if I would just call on the name of His Son Jesus. I went back into the gym where I had picked up the tract and prayed the words as suggested in the tract and gave my heart to Jesus and my life has never been the same since!
Check out the CD I created for my kids' mission trip to Haiti.
Have a good laugh with the"Pickles and Jelly" CD.
