What kind of activities or socialization do you have at the regent?
show answer...A: close answer...Here at The Regent, we offer our residents a wide range of activities with a full Avtivities Calendar every month. Our residents enjoy card games from bridge to pinochle. Board games, exercise classes, book club, library, ice cream socials, a men's club, lady's tea, live performances by area entertainers. We also have a number of scheduled field trips and excursions in our bus. One of the favorites is a trip into Central Park here in Corvallis every Tuesday evening for the Concert in the Park series held throughout the summer months. All in all, there's always something to do here at The Regent. Jody Eaton is our full-time activities Director and she works hard to ensure our residents don't get bored. Is living in an Independent Retirement community affordable and what do I get for the price?
show answer...A: close answer...In an ideal world, retirees have their homes paid for without the hassle of a mortgage however more often than not, people have taken out a second sometimes even a third mortgage on their home and struggling to pay a mortgage payment each month which averages $800 per month. Your car may or may not be paid for and assuming it isn’t, you have another $300 car payment each month. The average utilities bill (water and electric) is $300 per month. The average couple spends a minimum of $500 per month on groceries. Add to this a cable television bill of $15-$30 per month, garbage bill of $15 per month, and before long you can easily be spending $2000 per month to live in your home. In addition to the expense, you must consider the time you have to spend maintaining the home. From minor repairs, to mowing and lawn care, to major projects like repairing or replacing a roof, in a years time, you can easily have another $1000 worth of time and work to accomplish which prevents you from going out and doing the things you ought to be doing during your retirement, like playing a round of golf or visiting some of the areas historic sites and museums. Our average apartment cost is $1600 and that includes everything. What is everything? We at the Regent work with a variety of Home Health Professionals, and if you as a resident get To a place where you need more assistance than we can give, you are welcome to hire your own health care worker to come into the facility to assist you with everything from bathing, medicine distribution, even help in the dining room. They are also welcome anytime, day or night, in order to provide you with the help you need.
